Product Overview
Bone Meal Fertilizer (3-15-0 + 24% Ca) is a natural, organic-approved phosphorus source made from sterilised animal bones. Rich in phosphorus (15% P₂O₅) and calcium (24% Ca), bone meal provides slow-release P nutrition over 3-6 months, making it ideal for organic agriculture, perennial establishment, and bulb planting. Dongkwang Poland supplies EU Category 2-processed bone meal meeting the strict requirements of Regulation (EC) 1069/2009 for animal by-product safety, ensuring pathogen-free product suitable for all agricultural applications.
How Bone Meal Fertilizer Works
Bone meal phosphorus is present as hydroxyapatite (Ca₅(PO₄)₃(OH)) — the same mineral form as in bone and rock phosphate. In acid to neutral soils (pH <7), soil acids and root exudates gradually dissolve the hydroxyapatite, releasing plant-available phosphate (H₂PO₄⁻) and calcium (Ca²⁺) over 3-6 months. The slow dissolution prevents the rapid P fixation that occurs with soluble phosphate sources, improving overall phosphorus use efficiency.
Key Benefits
Application Guide
For organic field crops: 500-1,000 kg/ha incorporated before planting. For perennial establishment (fruit trees, vines): 200-500 g per planting hole. For bulbs and tubers: 50-100 g per planting station. For organic vegetable production: 600-800 kg/ha integrated into soil before transplanting. For lawn establishment: 50-75 kg per 1,000 m². Best applied to soils with pH <7 for optimal dissolution.
