How Ammonium Nitrate 34.4% Works
AN 34 provides 17.2% nitrate-nitrogen and 17.2% ammonium-nitrogen. Nitrate-N is immediately plant-available, while ammonium-N is held on soil exchange sites and converted to nitrate through microbial nitrification over 2-4 weeks. This dual mechanism ensures both rapid crop response and sustained nitrogen feeding. The high nitrogen analysis means fewer kilograms per hectare are needed compared to CAN 27 or urea, reducing transport and spreading costs.
