Product Overview
Urea Formaldehyde (UF) Slow-Release Nitrogen Fertilizer is a controlled-release nitrogen source that delivers consistent feeding over 8-16 weeks through microbial decomposition of methylene urea polymers. Unlike conventional urea which can lose 20-40% of nitrogen through volatilization and leaching, UF fertilizers release nitrogen in synchrony with plant demand, achieving nitrogen use efficiencies of 60-80% compared to 30-50% for conventional sources. Ideal for turfgrass management, ornamental production, and any application where sustained nitrogen feeding without repeated applications is valued.
How Urea Formaldehyde (Slow-Release) Works
Urea formaldehyde is a condensation polymer of urea and formaldehyde, forming methylene urea chains of varying length. Shorter chains (methylene diurea, dimethylene triurea) dissolve more readily and provide early nitrogen. Longer chains require microbial breakdown by soil bacteria and fungi, releasing nitrogen gradually over weeks to months. The ratio of cold-water soluble to cold-water insoluble nitrogen determines the release profile — our product is optimized for 60%+ slow-release fraction.
Key Benefits
Application Guide
Turfgrass: apply 200-400 kg/ha per application, 2-3 times per growing season. Ornamental nursery: incorporate 300-500 kg/ha into potting substrate or field soil before planting. Sports turf: apply 150-250 kg/ha monthly during active growth for consistent color and density without surge growth. Golf greens: apply at 100-150 kg/ha every 6-8 weeks. Can be blended with quick-release N sources for immediate + sustained feeding.
