Coated Urea (Sulphur-Coated)

Sulphur-Coated Urea (SCU) is an enhanced efficiency fertilizer that wraps standard urea granules in a protective elemental sulphur shell, reducing nitrogen volatilization losses by 25-35% and extending nitrogen availability over 4-8 weeks. Unlike expensive polymer-coated products, SCU achieves controlled release at a fraction of the cost while simultaneously supplying 10-15% sulphur as a secondary nutrient — addressing the widespread sulphur deficiency that affects crop yields across European, African, and Asian soils depleted by decades of sulphur-free fertilizer use and reduced industrial SO₂ deposition.

The elemental sulphur coating (10-15% by weight) creates a physical barrier around each urea granule. Water must penetrate through micro-pores and cracks in the sulphur shell to dissolve the urea core. The release rate is controlled by coating thickness, micro-pore density, and soil temperature/moisture. As the sulphur coating oxidizes in soil (via Thiobacillus bacteria), it converts to plant-available sulphate (SO₄²⁻), providing a secondary nutrient benefit. Warmer soils accelerate both nitrogen and sulphur release.

Ideal For

Store in dry conditions on pallets. The sulphur coating provides excellent moisture resistance and low caking tendency. Avoid rough handling that may crack the coating and accelerate release. Stack maximum 3 pallets high. Shelf life: 24 months. Standard fertilizer PPE for handling.
