Product Overview
Amid Naphtha — also known as solvent naphtha or medium-boiling-point naphtha — is a refined petroleum hydrocarbon fraction widely used as an industrial solvent, chemical feedstock, and process fluid across petrochemical, coatings, adhesive, and rubber manufacturing industries. Sourced from established European refineries and distributed by Dongkwang Poland Sp. z o.o., our technical-grade amid naphtha delivers consistent boiling range (140–200 °C), controlled aromatic content, and reliable bulk availability year-round. With applications spanning paint thinners, lacquer solvents, rubber processing oils, industrial degreasers, and petrochemical steam cracker feedstocks, amid naphtha remains one of the most versatile hydrocarbon solvents in global commerce. We supply in IBC containers, flexitanks, and bulk road/rail tankers to customers across the EU, Middle East, Africa, and South America — with full REACH registration, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Certificate of Analysis (COA) accompanying every shipment.
How Amid Naphtha Works
Amid naphtha functions as a non-polar organic solvent that dissolves oils, resins, waxes, and polymers through van der Waals interactions. Its medium boiling range (140–200 °C) provides a balance between solvency power and evaporation rate — fast enough for efficient drying in coatings applications, yet slow enough to allow proper film formation and levelling. In petrochemical applications, amid naphtha serves as a feedstock for steam crackers to produce ethylene and propylene. In rubber compounding, it acts as a process oil that improves plasticity during mixing and extrusion. The controlled aromatic content (standard or low-aromatic grades) allows formulators to balance solvency strength with VOC compliance and worker safety requirements.
Key Benefits
Application Guide
Paint & Coatings: Use as a thinner or solvent for alkyd, chlorinated rubber, and bituminous paints at 5–20% by weight. Adjust ratio based on viscosity targets and ambient temperature. Industrial Cleaning: Apply neat or diluted for degreasing metal parts, machinery, and equipment. Effective on petroleum-based greases, cutting oils, and heavy residues. Rubber Processing: Add at 3–8 phr (parts per hundred rubber) as a process oil during mixing to improve compound flow and reduce Mooney viscosity. Petrochemical Feedstock: Feed directly to steam cracker at controlled rates per plant specifications. Adhesive Formulation: Use as carrier solvent for contact adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, and hot-melt formulations at 10–30% concentration.
Ideal For
Storage & Handling
Store in approved, grounded steel tanks or original sealed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from heat sources, sparks, and open flames. Amid naphtha is classified as a flammable liquid (GHS Category 3, Flash Point > 40 °C) — maintain appropriate fire suppression equipment on-site. Use explosion-proof electrical equipment in storage and handling areas. Maximum storage temperature: 40 °C. Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Use chemical-resistant gloves (nitrile), safety goggles, and respiratory protection (organic vapour cartridge) when handling in poorly ventilated spaces. Dispose of waste in accordance with local environmental regulations. Shelf life: 36 months in original sealed containers.
