How Phosphoric Acid 85% Works
Phosphoric acid is a triprotic acid that dissociates in three stages, releasing H₂PO₄⁻, HPO₄²⁻, and PO₄³⁻ ions. In fertilizer production, neutralisation with ammonia produces MAP and DAP. In food processing, it provides tartness in carbonated beverages and acts as a pH regulator. In metal treatment, it converts iron oxide (rust) to iron phosphate, creating a corrosion-resistant coating. Each application leverages a different pH range of the acid’s buffering system.
