Product Overview
Azotobacter Biofertilizer contains free-living Azotobacter chroococcum bacteria capable of fixing 20-40 kg nitrogen per hectare annually without requiring symbiotic root nodulation. Unlike Rhizobium which only works on legumes, Azotobacter fixes atmospheric nitrogen independently in the soil surrounding any crop’s root zone — making it suitable for cereals, vegetables, cotton, sugarcane, and all non-leguminous crops. Additionally, Azotobacter produces plant growth-promoting substances including indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), gibberellins, cytokinins, and B-vitamins that stimulate root growth and improve overall plant vigor.
How Azotobacter Biofertilizer Works
Azotobacter chroococcum is an aerobic, free-living diazotroph that fixes atmospheric N₂ using the nitrogenase enzyme complex powered by soil organic carbon as an energy source. The bacteria thrive in the carbon-rich rhizosphere zone surrounding plant roots. Fixed nitrogen is released into the soil solution as the bacterial cells die and decompose, becoming available for crop uptake. Simultaneously, the growth hormones produced (IAA, GA₃) stimulate root hair development, increasing the crop’s own nutrient and water uptake capacity.
Key Benefits
Application Guide
Seed treatment: mix 200g per 10kg seed with a sticker solution. Soil application: apply 2-5 kg/ha in furrow at planting. Seedling dip: prepare 500g in 10L water, dip seedling roots for 15-30 minutes before transplanting. Fertigation: dissolve 1-2 kg/ha in irrigation water. Apply to moist soil — Azotobacter requires aerobic conditions and adequate moisture. Best results in soils with pH 6.0-7.5 and organic carbon >0.5%.
Ideal For
Storage & Handling
Store in cool, dry conditions (4-25°C) away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze. Powder form: keep sealed to prevent moisture loss. Liquid form: shake before use. Shelf life: 12 months from manufacture date. Do not mix with chemical fertilizers or pesticides in concentrated form.
