Product Overview
Manganese Sulphate (MnSO₄·H₂O, 31-32% Mn) is a dual-use chemical serving both as a micronutrient fertilizer and as a critical precursor for battery cathode materials. In agriculture, manganese deficiency causes interveinal chlorosis, reduced photosynthesis, and significant yield losses in cereals, soybeans, and potatoes. In the battery sector, high-purity MnSO₄ is essential for NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) cathode precursor synthesis. Dongkwang Poland supplies agricultural-grade and battery-grade manganese sulphate, bridging the traditional agricultural and emerging energy transition markets.
How Manganese Sulphate (MnSO₄) Works
In soil, MnSO₄ dissolves to release Mn²⁺ ions, which are absorbed by roots and incorporated into the oxygen-evolving complex of Photosystem II — without manganese, photosynthesis cannot split water molecules. Mn also activates superoxide dismutase (SOD) for oxidative stress defence. In battery manufacturing, MnSO₄ is co-precipitated with NiSO₄ and CoSO₄ to form the NMC hydroxide precursor, which is then lithiated to produce cathode active material.
Key Benefits
Application Guide
Agricultural foliar: 2-5 kg/ha as 1-2% solution applied at crop stages showing deficiency symptoms. Soil application: 10-30 kg/ha broadcast or banded. For soybeans: foliar spray at R1-R3 stages. For cereals: foliar at GS31-39. For potatoes: foliar during rapid canopy growth. Battery: as per cathode precursor production specification. Fertigation: 0.5-1 kg per 1,000L irrigation water.
Ideal For
Storage & Handling
Store in dry conditions. Mildly irritant — use gloves and dust mask. Non-hazardous for transport. Shelf life: 36 months. Battery-grade requires contamination-free storage — segregate from other chemicals. Agricultural grade can be stored with standard fertilizer precautions.
