Product Overview
Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP, 10-34-0 or 11-37-0) is a liquid phosphate-nitrogen fertilizer that serves as the base solution for virtually all liquid fertilizer blends and suspension fertilizers globally. With the highest phosphorus concentration achievable in a stable clear liquid, APP enables efficient fertigation, starter fertilizer programs, and precision fluid fertilizer application. Dongkwang Poland supplies APP from European blending facilities for agricultural and industrial (fire retardant) applications.
How Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP) Works
APP contains both orthophosphate and polyphosphate forms of P. In soil, polyphosphate chains are hydrolysed by soil phosphatases to orthophosphate (H₂PO₄⁻) over 1-3 weeks, providing a two-stage phosphorus release. The polyphosphate fraction also chelates micronutrients (Zn, Fe, Mn), keeping them in plant-available form longer than orthophosphate alone. The ammonium-N enhances root uptake of phosphorus through the ammonium effect on rhizosphere pH.
Key Benefits
Application Guide
Starter fertilizer: 40-80 L/ha in-furrow at planting for maize, soybean, and wheat. Fertigation: 10-20 L per 1,000L irrigation water. Liquid blend base: diluted and combined with UAN, potash solutions, and micronutrients. Foliar: diluted 1:10 for emergency P correction. Industrial: used as fire retardant component in intumescent coatings. Do not freeze — crystallisation occurs below -15°C.
Ideal For
Storage & Handling
Store above -15°C to prevent crystallisation. Use HDPE, fibreglass, or 316L stainless steel tanks. Non-hazardous and non-corrosive. Shelf life: 12 months in sealed tanks. If crystallisation occurs, warm to 25°C with gentle agitation to re-dissolve. Keep storage tanks covered to prevent contamination.
