Product Overview
Ammonium Bicarbonate (NH₄HCO₃, 17% N) is a mild, fast-acting nitrogen fertilizer widely used in Chinese and Southeast Asian agriculture. It releases nitrogen rapidly as both ammonium-N and CO₂ gas, making it effective for short-season vegetable crops and rice paddies. Dongkwang Poland supplies technical and agricultural grade ammonium bicarbonate for both fertilizer and food industry (baking powder, E503ii) applications, sourced from European production facilities.
How Ammonium Bicarbonate Works
Ammonium bicarbonate decomposes in soil moisture and warmth into ammonium (NH₄⁺), CO₂, and water. The ammonium provides immediate nitrogen nutrition, while CO₂ release can enhance photosynthesis in enclosed growing environments (greenhouses). Above 35°C, the compound decomposes rapidly, limiting its use in hot climates. The alkaline reaction (from bicarbonate) helps neutralise acid soils.
Key Benefits
Application Guide
Apply 300-500 kg/ha incorporated into soil before planting or side-dressed into moist soil during early growth. Incorporate immediately to prevent ammonia volatilisation. For rice paddies: broadcast 200-300 kg/ha into standing water before transplanting. For vegetables: band-apply 150-250 kg/ha alongside rows. Not suitable for foliar or fertigation use.
Ideal For
Storage & Handling
Store in cool conditions below 25°C — decomposes above 35°C releasing ammonia gas. Keep in sealed bags. Shelf life: 12 months in cool storage (shorter in warm climates). Non-hazardous but volatilised ammonia is irritant — ensure ventilation in storage areas. Use in cool morning conditions for field application.
