Product Overview
Single Super Phosphate (SSP) is a traditional triple-nutrient fertilizer delivering phosphorus (16-18% P₂O₅), sulphur (11-12% S), and calcium (18-21% CaO) in a single product. In an era of increasing sulphur deficiency worldwide, SSP has experienced a renaissance as the most cost-effective simultaneous source of phosphorus, sulphur, and calcium. For large-scale broadacre farming operations where input cost per hectare determines profitability, SSP offers unbeatable value — particularly on sulphur-deficient soils where the S component effectively comes ‘free’ alongside the phosphorus. Dongkwang Poland supplies granular and powder SSP to importers across South America, South Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
How Single Super Phosphate (SSP) Works
SSP is produced by acidulating phosphate rock with sulphuric acid, creating a mixture of monocalcium phosphate [Ca(H₂PO₄)₂] and calcium sulphate (gypsum). The P₂O₅ is approximately 85-90% water-soluble, providing rapid root-zone phosphorus. The sulphate-sulphur (SO₄²⁻) is immediately plant-available, meeting S demand from day one. The calcium (as CaO equivalent) improves soil structure on sodic soils through gypsum’s ability to displace exchangeable sodium. This triple-nutrient profile makes SSP uniquely valuable — no other single fertilizer delivers P, S, and Ca simultaneously.
Key Benefits
Application Guide
Broadcast: apply 300-600 kg/ha as a basal dressing at planting. For sulphur-deficient soils: 400-600 kg/ha provides 44-72 kg S/ha. For phosphorus maintenance: 200-300 kg/ha based on soil test P. Blending: use as P+S source in NPK blending plants. For sodic soils: the gypsum component helps reclaim sodium-affected soils — apply 500-1000 kg/ha annually for soil structure improvement. Compatible with urea, AS, and MOP in physical blends.
Ideal For
Storage & Handling
Store in dry conditions. SSP is slightly acidic and can cause mild corrosion on uncoated metal — store on pallets in lined warehouses. Shelf life: 24 months. Granular grade preferred for mechanical application; powder grade suited for blending. Standard handling and spreading equipment compatible.
