Wheat Fertilizer Blend (18-10-10 + 4% S) is a sulphur-enriched compound formulated specifically for bread wheat quality. Sulphur drives the synthesis of cysteine and methionine — the amino acids responsible for gluten strength and baking quality. Without adequate sulphur, even high-protein wheat produces weak gluten that fails mill specifications. This formulation delivers nitrogen for protein content, phosphorus for root establishment, potassium for lodging resistance, and sulphur for the disulfide bonds that give bread dough its elasticity and rise. The standard specification for milling wheat across Central and Western Europe.
How Wheat Fertilizer Blend Works
The 4% sulphur (as SO₄²⁻) is immediately plant-available, driving cysteine and methionine synthesis during the grain-filling period when protein deposition determines flour quality. Nitrogen (18%) supports tiller survival, ear number, and grain protein content — the key factor determining wheat grade and price premium. The N:S ratio of 4.5:1 matches wheat’s metabolic requirement for balanced amino acid production. Potassium strengthens straw and reduces lodging risk, while phosphorus supports root activity for late-season nutrient capture.

Application Guide
Split application recommended: 350 kg/ha at sowing for root establishment and early tiller nutrition, followed by 200 kg/ha at GS30 (stem elongation) to maximise tiller survival and ear number. For premium bread wheat, supplement with 50-80 kg/ha ammonium sulphate or urea at GS39 (flag leaf) to boost protein. Suitable for both autumn-sown winter wheat and spring wheat varieties. Soil test for S — if Olsen S <10 ppm, this blend is particularly beneficial.
