Trichoderma harzianum Biocontrol

Trichoderma harzianum is the world’s most commercially successful fungal biocontrol agent, protecting crops against a wide spectrum of soil-borne plant pathogens including Fusarium oxysporum, Rhizoctonia solani, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Pythium spp., and Phytophthora spp. Dongkwang Poland’s T. harzianum product contains ≥2×10⁹ CFU/g of verified biocontrol strains that attack pathogens through multiple mechanisms: direct mycoparasitism, antibiotic production, nutrient competition, and induction of plant systemic resistance (ISR). Registered and widely used across European, Indian, Brazilian, and African agriculture as a cornerstone of integrated pest management (IPM) programs.

Trichoderma harzianum employs four biocontrol mechanisms simultaneously: (1) Mycoparasitism — T. harzianum hyphae coil around pathogen hyphae, penetrate them with cell wall-degrading enzymes (chitinases, glucanases), and digest the pathogen. (2) Antibiosis — produces volatile and non-volatile antibiotics (trichodermin, harzianic acid, peptaibols) that inhibit pathogen growth. (3) Competition — rapidly colonizes root surfaces and soil organic matter, outcompeting pathogens for space and nutrients. (4) Induced Resistance — triggers jasmonic acid and ethylene signaling pathways in plants, priming systemic defense responses.

Ideal For

Store in cool, dry conditions (<25°C). Wettable powder form with durable spores maintains viability for 18+ months sealed. No refrigeration required. Avoid temperatures above 40°C. Compatible with most biological products but avoid mixing with chemical fungicides.
