Our B. subtilis PSB product solubilizes these fixed phosphorus reserves through organic acid production, increasing plant-available P by 20-30% and reducing DAP/TSP requirements. How Bacillus subtilis PSB Works
Bacillus subtilis produces organic acids (citric, oxalic, gluconic, succinic) that dissolve insoluble phosphate minerals in soil. The acids lower rhizosphere pH and chelate calcium, iron, and aluminum ions — releasing orthophosphate (H₂PO₄⁻) into the soil solution for plant uptake. Additionally, B. subtilis produces phosphatase enzymes that mineralize organic phosphorus from soil organic matter and crop residues. The biocontrol mechanism involves production of lipopeptide antibiotics (surfactin, iturin) and competition for root colonization sites.
